The Mayor of the Village of Skaneateles is the head of the Village Council. In 2013, the length of a mayoral term was extended from two years to four years. The mayor is not subject to term limits. The village was incorporated on April 19, 1833.

On April 1, 2021, Mary Sennett succeeded Marty Hubbard as mayor. Ed Evans and Tara Lynn also took office as village trustees.
