Syracuse is a major city located just East of the Finger Lakes Region in Onondaga County. Oneida Lake is a large lake located there that is generally not considered to be a finger lake; it is known as the "thumb" of the Finger Lakes.
Downtown Syracuse has a lot of shopping, businesses, and prewar architecture in addition to state, city amd county governmental offices. It is also becoming a revived urban living area woth several lofts and converted housing units.
Radio and Television stations
Several radio stations located in Syracuse reach all the way into the middle of the Finger Lakes including, Oldies 92.1 WSEN, Country B104.7, LiteRock 105.9, 93Q WNTQ 93.1 and Y94FM WYYY 94.1. 101.5 WXHC is in the vicinity as well.
Syracuse is also home to six major network TV stations: NBC 3, CBS 5 ABC 9, PBS 24, MyNetworkTV 43, Ion 56, and Fox 68.
Most of these stations broadcast from a hilly area south of the city and can be received across the majority of the Finger Lakes.
